Let’s learn a little about William below.
What's your Superhero Orgin story?
My name is William Montalvo and I studied illustration at Rhode Island School of Design with the intention of making comics. I also went to law school after and tried having a normal career for a while but I ended up going back to art and have worked in various capacities as a designer and illustrator.
How long have you been creating comics?
I have been creating comics since I was in elementary school. Although without a lot of proper direction or knowledge at first.

What inspired you to tell this story?
I wanted to tell a story set in a new society built on the water. I also like stories of conflict and struggle and I’m a huge fan of mecha shows and comics.

Did anything about your story change during the process?
I think for this story I mainly wanted to draw an over-the-top battle scene. Initially, I had more of a point to make about settlements made at sea but the action kind of took over the story.

How many stories have you gotten published in other anthologies or as stand-alone comics?
I’ve published in a few anthologies before with the Sketchybugs group in California. I’ve also had several of my projects published, the largest one has been the 170-page project Aria: A Cyberpunk Mystery by Daniel Gastellum where I was the artist and N.A.R.L.I. The Radical Robot, written by Kevin Rowe.

Who are your influences and fantasy collaboration team?Â
I’m a major fan of Fiona Staples and Jorge Jimenez, also many Japanese manga and anime artists. As far as collaboration it would be amazing to work with someone like Brandon Sanderson on a fantasy project.
